First Grade Weekly Homework #28: April 9-13, 2018:

Sight Words: much, before, line, right, too (Practice reading words to know them by sight.) 

Sounds:  base words ending with ed, ing (called, skated, running, smiling, etc…)  long e spellings –y, ie (happy, sticky, chief, field, etc…) (Practice these sounds.  Spell and read words with new and past letter sounds.) 

Reading:  First grade student reads aloud to family every day. (About 15 minutes a day.) Students read the story, Dog-Print Art, answer the questions, and return on Friday.  Read and reread the other stories attached to the homework. (Keep the attached stories at home.) Family reads aloud to student.  Enjoy your reading time together. J. 

Spelling: mix, mixed, hop, hopped, hope, hoping, run, running, use, used (The test is on Friday, April 13.)

Math: Practice telling time to the hour and half-past. Practice adding two-digit numbers. Practice ordering and sequencing numbers, writing numbers before, after, and between, and comparing numbers—greater and less to 120.  Practice using a ruler and measuring to the nearest inch. 

Writing:  The student writes, in pencil, on a topic of his/her choice.  Fill the page with complete sentences

Skill of the Week:  Make a special effort each day to be extra helpful or friendly to someone.  Will you help with dinner? Will you share a toy with someone? Will you surprise someone by making the bed for him or her?  Will you give someone a hug or a compliment? What will you do?
