First Grade Weekly Homework #7: Oct. 4-11, 2019

Sight Words: but, not, what, all, were (Practice reading these words to know them by sight.)

Sounds:  short a, e, i, o, and u, and blends with r (cr, br, dr, fr, tr…) (Practice these sounds.  Spell and read words with new and past letter sounds.) 

Reading: First grade student reads aloud to family every day. (About 15 minutes a day.) Students read the story, Tell Cat!, answer the questions, and return on Friday.  Read and reread the other stories attached to the second part of this homework. (Keep the attached stories at home.) Family reads aloud to student.  Enjoy your reading time together.  

Spelling:  in, will, did, sit, six, big (Spelling Test on Oct. 11). 

Math:  Count aloud to 100 by ones, fives, and tens.  Daily 90 Second Math Fact Tests will continue to be given in class, so please help your child prepare by studying the Math Fact Flash Cards. 

Writing:  The student writes the lower case letters that come before and after in the alphabet. Please use pencil for all homework. 

Skill of the Week:  Practice using good manners (saying please and thank you and excuse me…).
