First Grade Weekly Homework #36
May 27-31, 2019

Sight Words:  asked, went, men, read, need (Practice reading words to know them by sight.)

Reading:  First grade student reads aloud to family every day. (About 15 minutes a day.) Students read the attached story, A Family Tree, answer the questions, and return on Friday.  Read and reread the other stories attached to the second part of the homework. (Keep these stories at home.) Family reads aloud to student.  Enjoy your reading time together. J.

Spelling: No new words. No Friday Test.

Math:  Practice adding and subtracting two-digit numbers.  Review odd and even numbers.  Review math facts. Go on shape hunts—identify 2-D shapes like squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, and 3-D shapes like cubes, spheres, rectangular prisms, cones…at home, in the car, outside…

Writing:  “Where am I? Riddle” Choose a specific place/location to write four or more clues about (climate, geography, language/dress/customs, landmarks…) and then write “Where am I?” (Example: It’s very cold here. There are polar bears. Igloos are built here. This place starts with an “A.” Where am I?) Include an illustration.

Skill of the Week:  Practice the Golden Rule—treat others the way you want to be treated.  Go out of your way to say hello to someone.  Include people in games.  Give someone a compliment.  Help someone at home or at school.  Share.  Smile.  Be friendly… J
