First Grade Weekly Homework #17
Jan. 13-17, 2020

Sight Words:  two, more, write, go, see   (Practice reading words to know them by sight.)

Sounds: long i/magic e spellings i_e (_ike, _ime, _ine, _ive, _ide, _ike, etc…), kn, wr, gn, mb (Practice these sounds.  Spell and read words with new and past letter sounds.)

Reading:  First grade student reads aloud to family every day. (About 15 minutes a day.) Students read the story, Cats, answer the questions, and return on Friday.  Read and reread the other stories attached to the second part of the homework. (Keep these attached stories at home.) Family reads aloud to student.  Enjoy your reading time together. 

Spelling:  time, like, kite, bike, white, drive  (The test is on Friday, January 17.)

Math:  Identify even and odd numbers to 20.  Identify coins and know their value (pennies, nickels, and dimes).  Continue to practice the Math Fact Flash Cards.  Practice telling time to the hour.

Writing:  The student writes, in pencil, 3 or more sentences about a topic of his/her choice. Check for: correct capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and spelling of sight words.  

Skill of the Week:  Be germs worst enemy:  wash those hands, catch those sneezes, keep cold foods cold, keep hands out of mouths, eyes, and noses, etc…
