First Grade Weekly Homework #13
Dec. 2-6, 2019

Sight Words:  will, up, other, about, out  (Practice reading words to know them by sight.)

 

Sounds:  digraph th, word endings –s, -es, -ing, -ed (ed can make 3 sounds at the end of words: /ed/, /d/, or /t/) (Practice these sounds. Spell and read words with new and past letter sounds.)

Reading:  First grade student reads aloud to family every day. (About 15 minutes a day.) Students read the story, Pup’s Bath, answer the questions, and return on Friday.  Read and reread the other stories attached to the second part of this homework.  (Keep these attached stories at home.)  Family reads aloud to student.  Enjoy your reading time together. 

Spelling:  that, then, this, them, with, bath (Spelling Test on Dec. 6)


Math:
  Identify coins and know their value (pennies, nickels, and dimes).  Continue to practice the Math Fact Flash Cards.  Count to 100 by 1s, 5s, and 10s.  Count by 2s to 20.  Practice telling time to the hour.


Writing:
 Write 3 or more sentences about your week off from school.  Please use pencil. Also check for correct capitalization, punctuation, spacing, and letter formation. Parents, encourage your young writer to sound out words as he/she writes. Inventive spelling is appropriate at this stage.  Do provide the correct spelling of sight words, however. Thank you!  


Skill of the Week:
  Practice good hand washing skills (use soap and water and clean your hands as you sing the ABC song).
