Martin Luther King, Jr.:
We learned a lot about Martin Luther King, Jr. through books, pictures, and videos this week.  We learned how he fought peacefully for equal rights for everyone.  We also talked a lot about how each of us can make a positive difference in the world by caring, being friendly, helping others, following the Golden Rule,…the list went on and on.  Room 2 Friends have great ideas and big hearts!  J

Remember: No school on Monday, January 15, 2018—Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Making Good Choices/Let’s Make a Meal:
This week we talked about steps that can be taken in “making a meal.” We discussed what’s involved in planning, shopping, preparing, and serving a meal, and how all family members can get involved in helping with healthy meals to eat together…yum and fun!!!!

Math Facts:
Continue to practice math facts so that your child can pass a couple “90 Second Math Facts” each week.

Reading Fluency:
Continue to have your first grader read aloud to you every day.  The goal is for the reading to sound like we talk (about 30 correct words in 1 minute).

Second Trimester Awards:
Students who can say their phone number and address by heart will receive a special award at the end of the second trimester.  Students who didn’t master bow tying the first trimester may try again this trimester.  Good luck!   J
